Which leads you to the question, can you lay artificial grass on soil? In short, the answer is no.
When putting down the lawn, you will need to be meticulous. That includes removing any vegetables or weeds that could grow underneath the base. You should also prepare your ground for the incoming rolls. You’ll be required to dig up the turf, line up the perimeter and put down gravel, sand and then batons. There’s a complete process to laying a lawn and that’s why you won’t be able to do it directly on top of soil.
Installation does not come free of preparation, just like laying on soil, for concrete you’ll need to put measures in place first. Use measuring tools to find out how much room you are required, work out the height and length. Use under felt or performance pads, and you can then fit the rest on top.
When you calculate the overall costs of synthetic grass, you save expenditure. That is down to the time saved in regards to maintenance. We wouldn’t encourage anybody to cut corners, no pun intended. When trying to get away with doing it on the cheap and moving materials around or skipping steps, you can end up with a disappointing result or a garden that doesn’t last.
The cheapest way to install, is to do it properly, as it therefore offers more use. That is how you get your money’s worth. Don’t fit the turf onto soil or earth, it needs a real base and the appropriate prep’.
